Email Hosting

IMPORTANT – Our email hosting service is provided using a shared hosting server. This means your email account is hosted on the same server as hundreds of other accounts. If just one of the accounts is hacked or an email account holder starts sending out spam emails, it can have a negative effect on the server and may cause our server to be placed on a blacklist and delivery of your emails may be effected. When this happens, the server support team work to remove our server from such blacklists but this can take some time and cause considerable inconvenience to you.

For business users, we would suggest you consider a far more robust email service be used, even if we are hosting your website. We can direct your email hosting to an external service such as Microsoft Exchange or Google Mail for Business. Both of these services cost a little more, starting at about £3.50 per month per user but there are advantages of using them and you can of course use your own domaine name in your email accounts.

We prefer Google Mail for Business as it comes with 30GB of cloud storage compared to our 1GB mailbox size. This allows you to keep all of your emails backed up in the cloud safely for years. You can also use the popular GMAIL APP on your smartphone to access your account so it’s simple to set up. For users who already use the Microsoft Outlook software, no problem, Google Mail for Business integrates perfectly!

Email accounts can be set up as either POP3 or IMAP type.

POP3 is a standard account and allows for a single device to connect with your email server and download email messages.

IMAP type accounts will need to be used if you are using more than one single device, for example you might have an office computer or laptop and a mobile phone which all need to sync with your email server. It is important if using more than one device to access your email account that the IMAP tyoe is used when setting up the email account on each device.
